About Us

Built on Service. Defined by Care.

Founded by a physician and a fire chief, The Service was built on decades of experience and a shared belief that families deserve a more personalized, concierge approach to home care — one defined by exceptional people, thoughtful coordination, and genuine peace of mind.

THE SERVICE STANDARD

The Foundation of Our Care

The care we provide begins long before someone steps through your front door. It begins with the standards we set, the people we choose, and the responsibility we accept every time a family places their trust in us. These principles shape every care plan, every caregiver, and every interaction.

Discretion

Respecting your privacy with the discretion and professionalism every family deserves.

Trust & Safety

Every caregiver is thoroughly background checked, personally vetted, and selected for their integrity, professionalism, and character.

Dignity

Honoring each person’s independence, preferences, and the life they’ve built.

Excellence

Consistent, dependable care delivered with attention to every detail.

Our Leaders

Founded by a Physician and a Fire Chief

Nearly five decades of experience. One shared belief: families deserve a more thoughtful approach to home care.

Dr. Alex Black

President + Co-Founder | Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician

Dr. Alex Black is a board-certified emergency medicine physician whose career has been dedicated to caring for people during life’s most critical moments. Before becoming an emergency physician, he served as a Dallas firefighter and paramedic — giving him a unique perspective that bridges emergency medicine with compassionate, in-home care.

Trained at UT Southwestern and Parkland Hospital, he now practices at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center. Today, he personally oversees the clinical standards that guide every caregiver and every family served by The Service.

Cristian Hinojosa

CEO + Co-Founder | Deputy Fire Chief, 20+ Years of Service

Cristian Hinojosa is a Deputy Fire Chief with nearly two decades of leadership in one of the nation’s largest fire and EMS departments, where trust, teamwork, and service are part of every day. He also brings executive experience in investment banking and holds a Master of Public Administration, combining operational leadership with a deep commitment to serving others.

That commitment extends well beyond his career. Cristian serves on the boards of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Dallas Life Foundation, and Twelfth Step Ministries- reflecting the same values of service, leadership, and community that continue to shape The Service today.

Every caregiver carries forward the same commitment to compassion, professionalism, and service that inspired The Service from the very beginning.

The result is a level of confidence and continuity families can truly feel.
