How It Works

Exceptional Care From a Team of Elite Firefighter Paramedics, Built Around You

Every relationship with The Service follows a clear, intentional path — designed to move efficiently when care is needed and keep every important detail in view.

Phase 1

The First Conversation

It starts with a real conversation — with someone medically trained, not a call center.

Who You Talk To

Your first call is handled by a medically trained member of our leadership team, so you’re understood from the very first minute.

What We’ll Ask

Every family arrives with a unique story, and every situation deserves more than a checklist. While understanding schedules, logistics, and support needs is important, the conversation goes much deeper. We take the time to learn about routines, interests, personality, lifestyle, and goals- what brings joy, fosters independence, and gives each day meaning.

Finding the Right Fit

Those insights help us match each client with firefighter paramedics whose personalities, experience, and approach feel like the right fit.

This isn’t a medical intake form. It’s the beginning of a relationship.

The Home Visit

Meeting in person allows us to move beyond the basics and build a genuine connection.

Phase 2

Building Your Team

Before care begins, we complete an in-home assessment to understand the environment, identify priorities, and create a safe, effective plan tailored to your needs.

Personalized Planning

No two families are alike. Some benefit from a few hours of companionship each week, while others require daily support or around-the-clock coverage. Every plan is thoughtfully tailored to the individual’s needs, routines, goals, and preferences — ensuring the right level of support at the right time.

Matchmaking

The right fit is never left to chance. Drawing on everything learned during the discovery process, we thoughtfully assemble a team of firefighter-paramedics whose personalities, interests, and approach align with the needs of your family. The goal is not simply to provide support — it is to create familiarity, trust, and meaningful relationships over time.

Meeting Your Team

Before the first shift, you’ll receive a personal introduction featuring each caregiver’s photo, background, experience, and interests. Thoughtful introductions help lay the foundation for trust, connection, and a more personal experience from day one.

The Skillset Behind Every Match

The Service was built around a different standard. Our caregivers are licensed paramedics, most of whom continue to serve as active firefighters, bringing years of practical experience, preparedness, and calm judgment to home care.

Phase 3

Care Begins

With the home visit complete, the plan established, and your team selected, the transition from preparation to care is seamless.

Scheduling

Once the plan is in place, we begin building a schedule around your family’s needs, routines, and preferences. Our goal is to create consistency whenever possible while maintaining the flexibility to adjust as life changes.

Care Notes

Care notes are tailored to the information you would like documented, which may include vital signs, medication reminders, meals, hydration, personal care, mobility, household tasks, transportation, and other meaningful details from the visit.

Ongoing Oversight

From the first shift onward, our role extends beyond coordination. Through ongoing communication, oversight, and support, we help ensure care remains aligned with evolving needs, preferences, and priorities over time.

Phase 4

The Rhythm of Everyday Care

Great care isn’t a launch — it’s a rhythm we maintain and adapt.

Flexible Scheduling

Schedules may be planned several weeks in advance for ongoing care or adjusted more frequently as circumstances change.

Family Communication

Communication is tailored to each client’s preferences, with designated loved ones kept informed when requested.

Simple Billing

Clear monthly invoices are sent to the client or designated contact for the previous month’s care.

Shift Coverage

Coverage is coordinated across your care team with consistency, compatibility, and stated preferences kept in mind.

Backup Coverage

Unexpected scheduling conflicts occasionally arise, but consistency remains a priority. When backup coverage is needed, we thoughtfully match caregivers with familiarity, relationships, and your preferences in mind.

When Needs Change

Whether care is planned or needed unexpectedly, we’re prepared to move quickly while maintaining the same thoughtful approach to matching and coordination.

How We Keep It Seamless

Exceptional care isn’t just what happens in the home — it’s everything happening behind the scenes to support it. Through thoughtful coordination, proactive communication, and careful attention to detail, our team helps ensure every experience remains consistent, responsive, and deeply personal.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does getting started with The Service work?

Getting started begins with a no-obligation conversation with a medically trained member of our leadership team. From there, we schedule an in-home visit to better understand your needs, routines, preferences, and goals before creating a personalized care plan and carefully matching your care team.

How quickly can home care begin?

Every situation is different, but care can often begin within a few days. When needs arise unexpectedly, our team works quickly to begin services as soon as possible while still taking the time to thoughtfully coordinate your care.

Who will be caring for me or my loved one?

You’ll be supported by a small, carefully matched team of firefighter paramedics selected around your needs, routines, personality, and preferences. Whenever possible, you’ll be introduced to your caregivers before care begins so you know exactly who to expect.

Will we see the same caregivers, or a rotating group?

Consistency is one of our highest priorities. Rather than a rotating list of caregivers, we build a small care team that becomes familiar with your routines, preferences, and goals while providing dependable backup coverage whenever it’s needed.

What happens if my needs change?

Care plans are designed to evolve. Whether you need additional hours, different services, or changes to your schedule, we’ll adjust your plan to ensure your care continues to meet your needs.

How does The Service keep clients and loved ones informed?

Communication is tailored to your preferences. Whether updates are shared directly with you or a designated loved one, our team provides regular care notes, scheduling updates, and ongoing communication throughout your experience.

Who will be my point of contact?

You’ll have a dedicated point of contact who knows your care plan and is available to assist with scheduling, communication, updates, and any questions that arise along the way.
